Nvidia Geforce GTX 2080 and GTX 2070 names teased – Is this Ampere?

For the past year, there has been a debate amongst PC gamers, especially amongst Nvidia fans. Would Nvidia continue their current naming scheme and release a GTX 11 series of gaming products, or move into the Geforce GTX 20 series.

There has also been a secondary debate amongst rumourmongers, with conflicting sides calling Nvidia’s Next-Generation architecture Turing and Ampere, hinting at a move away from the company’s Volta graphics architecture.

Videocardz has uncovered that the Manli Technology Group has registered both codenames and product names with the EEC, revealing both a GA104 graphics core design and Geforce GTX 2080/Geforce GTX 2070 product names, seemingly confirming both the Ampere architecutre’s existance (or something else that starts with A) and the GTX 20 series moniker.

Manli has created several Nvidia graphics cards in the past, starting with the company’s GTX 700 series of products. This brand isn’t widely available in Europe, though their previous work with Nvidia makes these part listings more than worthy of being called believable. Even so, we cannot say that these names are confirmed until a confident CEO with a leather jacket says so.
