Powercolor plans to showcase “new technologies” at Computex
Powercolor, an AMD hardware partner, has already sent out invitations to Computex to the hardware press, stating that they will be showing “new technology” and “other latest products” at the event, which likely means that they will be showing us something that is newer than their existing RX 500 series GPUs. Â Â
Computex 2017 is an ideal launch event for Vega, with Nvidia likely having no hardware announcements for the event. This means that AMD will be free to take all of the publicity on the GPU front, allowing Vega content to almost go uncontested by competing manufacturers.Â
Â
Â
Even so, Powercolor’s invitation is deliberately vague, as AMD has not officially announced Vega’s release and the company cannot let the cat out of the hypothetical bag. It is also possible that Powercolor will only be showcasing new RX 500 series hardware, like the RX 560 that is currently not present at retailers.Â
Right now Computex seems like the most likely location for Vega’s “launch event”, hopefully, we will hear more from AMD soon regarding Vega’s release.
