PC enthusiasts across the world are curious about AMD’s RX Vega, wondering how well the GPU will perform and how much of an impact it will have on the consumer GPU market.

AMD is being extremely tight lipped about their RX Vega, which combined with the lacklustre performance of their Radeon Vega Frontier Edition in games is leaving consumers concerned. Now Videocardz has found what appears to be Radeon RX Vega 3DMARK Fire Strike results, delivering performance that is similar to an aftermarket GTX 1080.

These performance results are similar to AMD’s Radeon Vega Frontier Edition, with this GPU being listed as having the same memory clock speeds, less memory capacity (8GB instead of 16GB) and GPU core clock speeds of 1630MHz. There is also a listing with an RX Vega GPU that features a core boost clock of 1536MHz.

At this time it is unknown whether or not these results are from a “full fat” Vega GPU, as at this time there is no way of differentiating between different Vega SKUs. These 3DMARK listings also do not state whether or not these GPUs are operating in a “Gaming mode” or “Silent mode”, which have the potential to impact performance.

It is also unclear whether or not these GPUs are using AMD’s latest driver revisions, as AMD could be leaving certain new features under wraps until a later date. We will certainly not be getting “official” benchmark results until AMD’s SIGGRAPH event.

At this time it seems increasingly unlikely that AMD’s RX Vega will be the GTX 1080Ti competitor that AMD fans desire, though AMD could still bring heightened levels of competition to the market with a competitive pricing structure.
