The Oculus Rift has received a permanent price decrease to £399
At this time it is unknown why Oculus has decided to decrease the sale price of their Rift headset, be it lacklustre sales after the end of their “Summer of Rift” campaign or to attempt to undercut Microsoft’s Windows 10 Mixed Reality headsets before they make it to market.Â
- Bundle:
1x Oculus Rift VR headset
1x IR camera sensor with stand
2x Oculus Touch motion controllers (includes 1x AA per controller)
1x IR camera sensor with stand (2,5 m cable length)
1x Rockband guitar mount
1x Various accessories
6x Free games
It will be interesting to see how well Microsoft’s Windows 10 Mixed Reality headsets compete with the Oculus Rift at this price point, given Microsoft’s use of an “inside-out” tracking system rather than use the Rift’s camera-based system, which is theoretically more accurate. Â
The Oculus Rift also contains lower resolution displays than many of Microsoft’s Windows 10 Mixed Reality headsets, making the comparison even more interesting. Â
