The Oculus Rift price has dropped to £349 for a limited time

Earlier this year the cost of Oculus’ Rift + Touch bundle was around £499 at UK retailers, receiving a £100 discount in October and now a temporary £50 discount at select retailers before Christmas.

This reduction gives the Oculus Rift + Touch Bundle a price tag of £349 at the time of writing, provided you are willing to shop around, giving users an 30% price decrease when compared to Rift’s pricing this September.

Combine this with the fact that today’s Oculus Bundle ships with six games, Robo Recall ( including Lucky’s Tale, Quill, Medium, Dead and Buried, and Toybox) and the Oculus Rift has never looked more attractive, especially given the headset’s beta SteamVR support on Valve’s Steam platform. Below is a list of what currently ships with Oculus’ Rift VR headset.

Bundle:

1x Oculus Rift VR headset
1x IR camera sensor with stand
2x Oculus Touch motion controllers (includes 1x AA per controller)
1x IR camera sensor with stand (2,5 m cable length)
1x Rockband guitar mount
1x Various accessories
6x Free games

Late 2017 has proven to be a transformative time when it comes to VR pricing, with the Oculus seeing steep price reductions alongside lower pricing to the HTC Vive and the release of Microsoft’s Windows 10 Mixed Reality (VR/AR) platform.

In 2018, VR is expected to continue to decrease in price, especially as Valve’s newer/more affordable tracking technology gets implemented in HTC Vive and other new SteamVR headset designs. Right now the Oculus Rift offers an extremely competitive price, leaving the ball in HTC’s court to bring the next wave of VR price reductions.
