Fake DIMMs! Corsair launches DRAMless Vengeance RGB PRO kits for aesthetic use

There are many types of PC builder in the world, from those that consider function above all else to those who consider aesthetics to be just as important as performance.

The appearance of your PC has always been an important factor, pushing the industry forward with increasingly innovative cable management techniques, sleek looking components and material choices that make little sense outside of aesthetic factors. The sheer number of RGB components and tempered glass cases sit as a testament to how critical aesthetic elements are to many PC enthusiasts.

To push system aesthetics to the next level Corsair has decided to lower the costs associated with filling every one of your PC’s DIMM slots with RGB enabled modules, creating their “VENGEANCE RGB PRO Light Enhancement Kit” to offer the appearance of expensive RGB DRAM modules at a fraction of their normal cost.

I know what some of you are thinking, “fake DIMMs!?”, “What’s the point in that?” Well, it’s easy to admit that these modules offer no function outside of aesthetic uses, but we must acknowledge that a low-cost solution that will fill up all of your PC’s DIMM slots is an attractive proposition. $40 for two fake Vengeance Pro RGB DIMMs or hundreds of dollars for real Vengeance RGB Pro memory modules.

Corsair’s Vengeance RGB PRO Light Enhancement Kit will ship for $40 in the US with both white and black colour options, with each DIMM featuring ten addressable RGB LEDs.

While some will see this as a pointless product, I can see this kit becoming popular amongst modders, who would appreciate the aesthetic benefits of extra memory modules and the low cost of Corsair “fake DIMMs”.
