The Commodore 64 is getting a full-sized re-release – Meet “THEC64”

Retro Games and Koch Media plans to re-release the Commodore 64 again, succeeding the company’s existing “THEC64 Mini” micro-console to create a full-size recreation of the classic home computer.

The new “THEC64” will ship with a fully working keyboard, which enables the PC to utilise the system’s built-in BASIC programming language without the use of an external USB keyboard, creating a more authentic Commodore 64 experience. Like THEC63 Mini, THEC64 will ship with 64 games and the ability to output video via HDMI at 720p in a Pixel Perfect 4:3 ratio with full width, CRT filter and US/Europe display mode options. Software updates for the unit will also be available via USB.

Unlike THEC64 Mini, THEC64 will ship with an updated joystick which features micro switches, making the console play better than its miniature predecessor, while also allowing users of the console to load and save files and games using USB.

THEC64 is set to release on December 5th, 2019 and cost £109.99/$119.99, with UK availability coming via GAME.
