Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation will gain Vulkan support in update 2.4

Stardock has confirmed that Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation’s next update will be adding Vulkan API support to the game, promising reduced CPU overhead, CPU scaling and support for Windows 7, 8 and 10. This gives Vulkan a distinct advantage over DirectX 12, which only supports Windows 10.
This new API code path for the game was originally intended to be released in June, though this was delayed as Stardock was not happy with their level of optimisation, given the game’s popularity as a benchmarking tool for both CPUs and high-end graphics solutions.

When the new Vulkan version of the game is released this should provide a great opportunity to compare both graphical APIs, as well as open up the ability to port the game over to Linux with support for the new Vulkan API.

This new update will add several UI improvements to the game and add new scenarios to all three campaigns, alongside new co-op map packs.

Modders will also be pleased with this new update, as it delivers them access to more parts of the game that can be modified as well as changed that will make modding more intuitive.

Update 2.4 will release on August 24th.
