Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition Will Be a Free Upgrade to ALL PC Owners

Borderlands is returning to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the form of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, which will arrive on April 3rd as a free upgrade to all PC owners of the game.

Yes, you heard that right. This is a free upgrade, one which will grant owners of the original game a graphically remastered version of the title with all of the original’s DLC, graphical upgrades, more weapons and more. PC gamers who do not own the original’s DLC will still be eligible for the upgrade, effectively giving them free DLC packs alongside the game’s remastered visuals and new content.

2K’s trailer for the game confirms that this remastered version of Borderlands will release on Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which makes sense given Gearbox’ promise to offer free upgrades to existing PC owners.

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition drops April 3rd!

Discover the co-op shooter-looter that started it all! With new weapons, visual upgrades, character heads, gold chests and keys, plus all 4 add-on packs, you can enjoy all of the content from one of the Most Acclaimed Games of its era, now in one sweet and deliciously modern package!

Gearbox has confirmed that Borderland’s final boss has been tweaked in this version of the game to be tougher and that add-ons like a Borderlands 2 style mini-map are available as options in this new version of Borderlands. The game’s inventory system has also been simplified, and ammo and health pickups are now automatic. These changes should make the game easier to play and focus the title more on run and gun gameplay.
