Call of Duty: Black Ops 4: Blackout is Playable for free Free this month

It is easy to see why games like Fortnite and Apex Legends are popular, with their solid gameplay merging with the game’s free to play pricing structure to ensure that that title always has an active playerbase and a large pool of potential customers to their battle packs and other microtransactions.

With Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, things are a little more difficult, with the game’s premium nature making the title a lot harder to get into, with the investment required to play acting as a major deterrent for many would-be players. This factor places Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode at a distinct disadvantage to free-to-play Battle Royale titles, which can be played with no financial investment from players.

Starting later today, Activision plans to make Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s Blackout Battle Royale mode available for free until April 30th, giving players a month of free access to the game. The reasoning behind this move is clear, attract more players into their Battle Royale game mode, potentially resulting in a new wave of game sales at the end of the free trial period.

This trail will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, though console players will require a multiplayer service subscription for their chosen platform, such as Xbox Live for Xbox One or PlayStation Plus for PS4.

At this time, Activision has not fully detailed gamers on each platform will be able to access Call of Duty 4’s Free Blackout mode, though the trail is expected to become available later today, as an April 2nd date is listed in the trailer above.
