Dying Light 2 receives half an hour of 4K gameplay

Techland’s Dying Light 2 E3 gameplay showcase wasn’t made public at the event, leaving the game’s internet fanbase with little more than a few articles to inform them about the game.

Now, Techland has released their E3 gameplay demo to the public, bringing to YouTube in 4K to showcase one of the game’s major story missions. The situation is dire, and it’s up to the player to resolve it.

The mission revolves around drinking water, a vital resource which the game’s largest human settlement has lost access to. The mission is to restore the city’s supply of drinking water, though it is worth noting that players have several ways of accomplishing this.

During this mission, we can see that weapon modding has returned to the series, hand-to-hand combat is as gruesome as ever and that the game’s parkour system is a fast and slick as it has ever been.

The last great human settlement exists within an unforgiving, infected world. Exceptional agility and combat skills make you a powerful ally and a valuable commodity. With your unique abilities you have the power to be an agent of change within this decaying metropolis. Use it wisely.

With Dying Light 2, Techland plans to deliver enhanced visuals, a compelling story, a larger game world and support for 2-4 player co-op. Within the world of Dying Light 2, the world has fallen to the virus, with the remnants of humanity fighting to survive within a new dark age, as infected roam at night, while survivors scavenge during the day.

Techland plans to place a multitude of player decisions throughout the game. These choices will allow players to shape the game world directly. Players will take control of Aiden Caldwell, an infected survivor who has incredible parkour skills and lethal combat abilities, making him a danger to zombies and humans alike.

Expect a twist on the same Dying Light DNA that made the original so fun to play, combining fast-paced free running with a selection of wacky weapons to deliver a satisfying gameplay experience.

Below is an excerpt from Dying Light 2’s Steam page.

     YOUR CHOICES, YOUR WORLD

You must make tough decisions and hard sacrifices as you decide the fate of a society on the brink of collapse. The effect of the choices you make will have a huge impact on entire regions of the city, uncovering new land masses and areas to explore.

EXCEPTIONAL AGILITY AND BRUTAL COMBAT

On your journey from humble beginnings to a person of great power, you have unprecedented freedom of movement across the city, seamlessly integrated with brutal first person combat.

A MODERN DARK AGE

In a desperate city, where resources and power are scarce, unstable, and trust in ruling bodies is all but eroded; humankind has reverted to a dark age. Civilization is gone but the relics are still there. This is a violent, primal & unforgiving world – and so are its inhabitants.

THE INFECTION HAS EVOLVED

The infection has evolved and become more sensitive to UV light. Society exists in the relative safety of sunlight, while the infected hide in the shadows of buildings. At night the infected roam the streets freely searching for prey, presenting opportunities for you to explore areas of the city inaccessible by day.

2-4 PLAYER CO-OP GAMEPLAY

Play the entire campaign in up to four-player co-op. Host your own games or join other players’ and see how their choices have played out differently to your own and how they have shaped their world differently to yours
