Frontier Developments teases Elite Dangerous Update 2.4 – Aliens

Elite Dangerous is easily one of the best space flight-sim games on PC, expanding over time to become a game with a wider scope and more features than many even imagined when the game originally launched back in 2014.   

Now update 2.4 promises to deliver a lot of new content into Elite Dangerous, including the Thargoid Alien race from the original Elite, a race that was previously thought to be extinct within the new Elite Dangerous cannon.    

With update 2.4 this alien race will be returning to the game in force, adding several new mechanics to the game and challenging humanity’s dominance within the Milky Way.    

  

 

Today not much is known about the Thargoids, apart from their recent sightings in-game and the appearance of alien artefacts across the galaxy. Before now the Thargoids are nothing more than a rumour, with stories of a past conflict where the aliens were found to be tough opponents with superior technology than humanity.  

  

Elite Dangerous: Horizons 2.4—The Return continues the Horizons season with ongoing story events that will see pilots thrust into battle against the Thargoids for the first time in gaming’s modern age. More will be revealed in coming months about this terrifying alien menace as humanity’s relationship with the Thargoids evolves throughout Elite Dangerous 2.3 and 2.4, bringing a new dynamic to the Elite Dangerous galaxy. Players will be forced to develop new tactics and technologies of their own, or see humanity’s grip on our sectors of the galaxy recede.

 

 

At this time war with the race has not been confirmed in update 2.4, though it seems unlikely that extended contact with this species will go harmoniously, especially as Thargoid activity increases in human sectors. 

Update 2.4 will come as part of Elite Dangerous’ Horizons season pack, with Frontier planning on adding more Thargoids teaser content as part of update 2.3, with more content being added as the release of 2.4 approaches.
