Microsoft releases Windows Defender Extension for Chrome to protect users
Windows Defender is coming to Google’s Chrome Browser, arriving as an extension that aims to add an extra layer of protection, especially from phishing attacks. Microsoft estimates that Google Chrome can only protect users from 87% of Phishing attacks by default, whereas Microsoft’s Edge browser can protect users from 99% of attacks.Â
Microsoft’s new Windows Defender Browser extension will make Chome as good as Edge when it comes to protection from phishing, with Microsoft seeming interested in delivering a similar extension to Firefox, which has a 70% protection rate. Â
 Â
Microsoft’s Google Chrome extension is now available on the Google Chrome Web Store as a free extension, with Microsoft planning to update their list of phishing URLs and strengthen their protection over time.Â
This extension is available for Chrome on both Mac and Windows PCs, provided the user’s Chrome browser is up-to-date.Â
