Microsoft/Xbox partners with Discord to connect gamers across both networks

Over the past couple of years, Microsoft has been working to bring their Xbox Gaming platform closer to the Windows PC gaming market, championing their Xbox Play Anywhere program for first-party releases while integrating Xbox features into Windows.

To further connect Xbox and PC, Microsoft has revealed a new partnership with Discord, allowing Xbox Players to link their Live accounts to their Discord account, allowing your friends to see what you are playing on Xbox.

Sadly this deal does not extend into Discord’s chat functionality, though it is possible that Microsoft’s account linking could be a step towards further Discord integration.

In response to your feedback, you will now have the option to link your Discord account to your Xbox account, making it easier than ever to see what your friends are playing. If you are playing Sea of Thieves on your Xbox, you can now choose to give your Discord friends the ability to see that and decide whether they want to hop on their Xbox and join you.

Xbox Insiders will soon have the ability to link their Discord account to their Xbox One console, allowing their friends on Discord to see exactly what they are playing on both PC and Xbox Live. This update is set to roll out to all Xbox One players in the near future, after a brief testing period with Xbox Insiders.
