Nvidia releases stunning RTX trailer for Metro Exodus’ The Two Colonels DLC

Metro Exodus was one of the first games PC to showcase the transformative nature of raytraced graphics, implementing a form of raytraced global illumination which enabled the game to look more beautiful than ever before.

With the game’s “The Two Colonels” expansion, Metro Exodus has gained heightened support for raytraced global illumination, this time extending the effect to area lights, point lights and emissive lights. Before this, Metro’s raytraced Global Illumination was limited to light rays from the sun or moon, limiting the impact that players could have on scene lighting.

In Metro’s “The Two Colonels” DLC, players will be able to see weapons like flamethrowers have an impact on scene lighting, see coloured bulbs and other lighting fixtures realistically impact scene lighting. This addition to Metro is perfect from this new DLC, as most of it takes place underground.

The first story expansion from Metro Exodus follows the story of Colonel Khlebnikov, father of Kirill, as Colonel Miller retraces his steps in the doomed station at Novosibirsk. Discover the story of the ill-fated residents and wield a brand new weapon, the flame-thrower, complete with ray-traced emissive lighting.

Below is an example of how Metro Exodus’ new lighting features can impact the visuals within the game’s latest DLC. Metro Exodus’ The Two Colonel’s DLC is available today for £6.99.
