Retro Shooter AMID EVIL updated with beta Nvidia RTX support

AMID EVIL is easily one of 2019’s FPS highlights, offering gamers retro gameplay and aesthetics in a package that feels completely fresh. It’s rare for a game to offer such a mix of old and new, and the game’s “overwhelmingly positive” reviews on Steam are a testament to the success that the game’s developers have achieved.

Now when we said that this game was a “mix of old and new” we weren’t kidding. This game’s latest beta update packs RTX support, bringing raytracing to this retro-looking Unreal Engine 4 shooter. So far, only a test level called “The Lost Falls” can be played with Nvidia RTX support, though the feature should be extended to the full game in time.

Below is a graphical comparison of the game with raytracing on and raytracing off, courtesy of @DaveOshry over on Twitter. It showcases how much raytracing can impact the reflections within AMID EVIL, revealing the shortcomings of some traditional game reflection techniques.

To see how Nvidia’s RTX features impact AMID EVIL’s visuals, gamers can opt-in to the game’s latest beta by using the code “AmidRTX12345”, which will give gamers access to the game’s private RTX beta. At this time it is unknown when full RTX support will come to AMID EVIL.
