Shenmue I and II Remasters are coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4

Shenmue I and II Remasters are coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4

The Shenmue series was a technical showpiece at the time of the game’s release, pioneering the use of open world city exploration, dynamic weather, a day/night cycle and Quick-Time-Events (QTEs).  The series also offers an in-depth story, one which has prompted the creation of Shenmue 3 almost 20 years after the release of the original.

SEGA has announced plans to release their most requested remaster, Bringing both Shenmue I and 2 to Xbox One, PC and PS4, offering support for higher resolutions, a new UI, updated or classic controls and a choice between the game’s English and Japanese Audio.

On PC the game will offer “fully scalable resolution support”, which should allow the game to support 4K resolutions and perhaps Ultra-wide displays. Previously the Shenmue series was only playable on PC via emulation, simulating the original Dreamcast or Xbox versions.

Shenmue I and II’s remasters will release sometime in 2018, likely before the release of Shenmue III on PC and PS4. No system requirements have been issued for Shenmue’s remasters at this time.
