Shenmue III has been delayed until 2019

Shortly after delaying 4A Games’ Metro Exodus, Deep Silver (now part of THQ Nordic) has announced that the release of Shenmue III will also postponed until 2019.
Shenmue III was first revealed in 2015 and achieved Kickstarter success with the promise of PS4 and PC versions of the game. Deep Silver says that this delay will allow the game’s development team to polish the game further and meet the high standards that the game deserves.

The game is currently being developed by Ys Net, who is working with several of Shenmue’s original developers to finish the series. This new iteration of the series is being created using Unreal Engine 4, following the events of Shenmue II.

Deep Silver today announce that their upcoming release Shenmue III has been moved and will now release in 2019.

The extra time will be used to polish the quality of the game even further, to the high standards it deserves and release the product in the best possible timeframe.

Shenmue I & II released in 1999 and 2001 respectively, making the series almost 20 years old. Both of the original games are still set to be re-released later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC, offering an enhanced gameplay experience while also giving gamers an excellent opportunity to catch up on the series before the release of Shenmue III.
