Subnautica is now available for free on the Epic Games Store

For the next two weeks, Subnautica will be available for free on the Epic Games Store, a game that is available on both Windows PC and Mac and supports Oculus Rift and HTC Vive VR headsets (though the Epic Games Store doesn’t mention VR support).

All PC gamers will need is an account for the Epic Games Store, which will allow Windows and MacOS gamers to redeem their free copy of the game. In two weeks, Super Meat Boy will also become available for free on the store, with Epic Games planning to deliver users more free games on a bi-weekly basis (every two weeks).

In Subnautuca, gamers crash onto a mysterious ocean planet and must survive at the bottom of the ocean, scavenging and crafting to survive, eventually allowing players to create an underwater habitat and highly advanced equipment, including underwater vehicles.

Subnautica is not just about surviving, but there is a mystery to be solved at the bottom of the ocean’s depths, allowing gamers to uncover why they crashed and what happened to the planet to leave structures and mutated sea life at the bottom of the ocean.
