The creator of the Witcher series did not think that the games would be a success
It is not that I donât like them, that I despise them. I just donât play them! But I have nothing against games, I have nothing against gamers. Nothing.I was stupid enough to sell them rights to the whole bunch. They offered me a percentage of their profits. I said, âNo, there will be no profit at all â give me all my money right now! The whole amount.â It was stupid. I was stupid enough to leave everything in their hands because I didnât believe in their success. But who could foresee their success? I couldnât.

This decision meant that Sapkowski did not profit directly from the success of the Witcher game series, a decision that the writer now regrets. That being said the game series has sparked some extra interest in the book series, which has indirectly benefited the writer.
Sapkowski did state that CD Projekt RED have created a “very good, well done” game, saying that they deserve their success for creating this adaptation of his book series.

The game is made very well. and they merit all of the beneficiaries they get from it. They merit it. The game is very good, well done, well done.
In his interview with Eurogamer Andrzej Sapkowski has also stated that he will “absolutely” create another story within the Witcher series, which is certainly something that will excite fans of the series.Â
