For the next week, Sabotage Studio’s The Messenger will be available for free on Windows-powered PCs, delivering gamers some side-scrolling action-platforming action.

Fans of the original Ninja Gaiden series acts as inspiration for this title, where players take control of a Ninja “The Messenger” who must go on a quest to deliver a scroll. Players start with an ability called “Cloudstepping”, which allows players to double jump after attacking enemies, and as the game progresses players will gain new powers and equipment that will help them on their journey.

This free game offer comes via the Epic Games Store, which means that you may need to install the Epic Games launcher on your PC. At the time of writing, Epic Games is offering PC gamers at least one free PC game per week on its storefront, which is great news for budget gamers who want to play something new. The Messenger released in August 2018, making this game little more than a year old.

Next week, the Epic Games Store will be offering PC gamers free copies of Plausible Concept’s Bad North: Jotunn Edition, a game that’s less than a year old at the time of writing.

PC gamers can redeem their free copies of The Messenger on the Epic Games Store.
