The Raspberry Pi 4 is now Vulkan API conformant
As of today, the Raspberry 4 generation of products has passed the Vulkan 1.0 conformance test suite, passing over 100,000 tests to ensure that the Raspberry Pi’s hardware and drivers meet the Khronos Group’s standards. As of now, the V3DV Vulkan Mesa driver for the Raspberry Pi 4 has full conformance, though work is still underway to add support for additional Vulkan features, boost performance and fix bugs.Â
Support for the Vulkan API on the Raspberry Pi 4 is closer than ever, and this addition will give Raspberry Pi developers new options. The Vulkan API can be used to bypass the bottlenecks of the OpenGL API to deliver stronger performance and increased efficiency levels from modern hardware. Through Vulkan, developers will be able to squeeze more performance from the Raspberry Pi 4, allowing the device to be used across a broader range of applications.Â
At this time, it is unknown when the Raspberry Pi 4’s finalised Vulkan Mesa driver will be released. Vulkan support on the Raspberry Pi is now closer than ever.Â
