Turn 10 bans the Confederate Flag from Forza as “notorious iconography”

Turn 10 Studios have announced that they have banned the Confederate Flag from its Forza series, calling the flag “notorious iconography”, joining imagery like swastikas, SS-runes, Wolfsangel, and other notorious symbols.

The use of the Confederate Flag “will result in a ban” in Forza games moving forward, which means that gamers will no longer be able to reproduce The Dukes of Hazzard’s iconic 1969 Dodge Charger, The General Lee.

Today, the Confederate Flag symbolises racial hatred for many in the US, often symbolising white supremacy and racism within the United States. This flag was the former standard of the armies of the Confederate States, which succeeded from the United States due to political tensions around slave ownership rights.

The ongoing Black Live Matter movement has sparked a crackdown on racist iconography across many online games and real-world sporting events. Recently, NASCAR banned the use of the Confederate “Rebel” Flag at in-person events.
