Two Gears of War series games will release on PC this year

Microsoft’s Media Briefing is going to be the main event of E3 2019, with their main competitor, Sony, opting to skip the event. This gives Microsoft no competition when it comes to game coverage, granting them the perfect opportunity to discuss their plans for 2019 as well as their plans for the next-generation of consoles.

2019 is set to be a great year for the Gears of War franchise, especially for PC gamers, who will reportedly receive Gears of War 5 this September and PC exclusive Gears Tactics later this year. Both games are being built from the ground up with PC in mind, with Gears of War 4 acting as a solid baseline for future iterations of the series.

New trailers and release dates for both games will be hosted during Microsoft’s press conference, with Gears of War 5 receiving a demo walkthrough as well as a trailer showcase. Gears of War 5 will be a new entry into the series, while Gears Tactics will offer a different kind of gameplay as a turn-based strategy title.

Below is Microsoft’s E3 2018 trailer for Gears of War 5, which showcases significant graphical upgrades and alterations over Gears of War 4.

So far, Gears Tactics has only been announced for PC, offering turn-based tactical combat that’s more similar to XCOM than previous Gears of War series games, Players will control a squad, which can be customised with new weapons and abilities to tackle swarms of Locust and large boss encounters.

At this time, Gears Tactics has not been announced for Xbox One, making this game a PC exclusive at the time of writing. Below is Gears Tactic’s on-stage announcement from E3 2018.
