Valorant, the hardcore free-to-play FPS from Riot, is due to release this Summer

Roit’s almost ready to release its next competitive free-to-play title, a 5 vs 5 character shooter which will feature 128-tick servers and a cast of unique characters.

Valorant was formerly known as “Project A” and is due to release in Summer 2020, offering high-speed gameplay that’s designed to run at 144FPS on modern PC hardware. Furthermore, the game’s netcode and server distribution are designed to ensure that sub-35ms ping times are available in “major cities around the world”.

Gameplay-wise, Valorant is a mix of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Overwatch, offering players 5v5 bomb matches that can last up to 24 rounds. Gunplay will be the focus on Valorant, with character abilities taking a back seat. Ultimate abilities will be powerful, but some of them will take several rounds to recharge.

Riot has also promised to offer PC gamers a robust anti-cheat system on day-1, which will help keep the game skill-based and cheat-free. You can watch gameplay for Valorant in the embedded gameplay preview below.
