Westwood Classic, Blade Runner, arrives on GOG
This game release came after a long period of reverse engineering through the ScummVM community after the game’s source code was lost as Westwoods Studios moved. Now, thanks to these efforts and a deal with the game’s license holder, Alcon Interactive, the game is now available for free on PC without any DRM, like all other games on GOG.Â
The game follows detective Ray McCoy, who is tasked with hunting rogue replicants, running parallel with the movie. The game touches into aspects of the world which weren’t covered within the Blade Runner movie, offering gamers a more in-depth glimpse inside the Blade Runner universe. The game was highly regarded when it launched in 1997, winning several awards while generating high review scores within the press.  Â
As an older title, Blade Runner presents gamers with a great opportunity to utilise Integer Scaling, a feature which recently arrived on graphics drivers from AMD, Nvidia and Intel. We tested AMD’s implementation Integer Scaling last week.Â
At the time of writing, Blade Runner is available for £6.89/$8.99 on GOG. Currently, the game has a 10% discount as part of GOG’s Winter Sale.Â
