Micron Reveals their Budget-Oriented 1300 series of SATA SSDs

Micron as revealed a new series of SATA SSDs, which are designed specifically for the client sector. These drives, the Micron 1300 series, ser designed to replace the long-lived Micron 1100 series, offering end users the company’s latest 96-layer TLC NAND and capacities which range from 256GB to 2TB.

When compared to its previous-generation counterpart, Micron’s 1300 offers similar specifications outside of the SSD’s modern NAND, using the proven Marvell 88SS1074 controller on both its 2.5-inch SATA and M.2 SATA models.

Unlike the 2.5-inch version, the Micron 1300’s M.2 version will not ship in 2TB capacities, instead shipping with 256GB, 512GB and 1,024GB versions. The 2.5-inch SATA model will ship with 256GB, 512GB, 1,024GB and 2,048GB.

When compared to the Micron 1100, the Micron 1300 offers higher levels of sequential read/write performance, offering speeds of 530MB/s and 520MB/s respectively. Micron’s 1300 series of SSDs are expected to be available to both OEMs and consumers.
