PC and Switch versions of Spyro: Reignited Trilogy leaked on an official website

Hot on the heels of the success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, Activision plans to take advantage of more of our PS1-era nostalgia thanks to the Spyro: Reignited Trilogy, which is set to arrive on PS4 and Xbox One on September 21st.

The game itself is a remake of the first three entries into the Spyro franchise, recreating classic gameplay with modernised graphics for today’s console hardware.

On the official Spyro: Reignited Trilogy website, pre-order listing for the game included two previously unannounced platforms for the title, including both PC and Nintendo Switch, both of which have already received versions of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

These listing have since been removed, though this is the second time that a Nintendo Switch version of the game has been revealed by an official source, with Nintendo UK creating a retail listing for a Switch version earlier this year. These listings support the hypothesis that PC and Switch versions of the game will release post-launch.

It makes a lot of sense for the Spyro: Reignited Trilogy to release initially on both PS4 and Xbox One, with both platforms offering remarkably similar hardware thanks to their use of AMD Jaguar processors and Radeon graphics. PC and Switch, however, are a very different story, providing a much wider range of hardware configurations that would no doubt be more difficult to develop for.

The PC version of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was also co-developed by Iron Galaxy, who were likely to be deeply involved in the creation of the PC port, making it possible that the Spyro: Reignited Trilogy will also be brought to PC with the help of a 3rd party developer.
