Apple announces their Vega powered iMac Pro

At WWDC 2017, Apple has announced their new iMac Pro, which combines Intel’s upcoming X299 Xeon CPUs and AMD’s new Vega graphics to create one of the most powerful all-in-one PCs that we have ever seen. Â

This system will launch with a minimum of 8 CPU cores and up to a total of 18 cores, with a minimum of 32GB of DDR4 ECC memory and up to a maximum of 128GB of DDR4 ECC memory. This system will also come with a 10Gb ethernet connection and 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports for external connectivity, which will give this device plenty of options for external storage.Â

The Radeon Vega GPU that powers this system will also come with 16GB of internal HBM2 memory on a 2048-bit memory bus, offering around 400 Gbps of memory performance. This GPU will also offer 11 TFOPS of GPU performance, which is lower than AMD’s Radeon Vega Frontier edition, though this limitation is likely due to Apple’s compact cooling configuration. Â

Apple states that this new all-in-one PC will offer an 80% increase in cooling capacity to offer “quiet” operation, which is no small feat for such a compact all-in-one PC.Â
The memory used in this system will run at 2666MHz and the PC itself will come with a removable stand and a 1080p FaceTime camera. This Mac also comes with a large 5K display and the ability to use two additional 5K displays if required. Â

This new PC will release in December and will cost a minimum of $4999 for the 8-core model with 32GB of RAM.Â
