ASUS’ ROG Strix GL702ZC Ryzen-based notebook is now available to purchase
Â
One of the highlights of Computex 2017 was the introduction of Ryzen-powered notebooks, which can feature fully-fledged desktop products with up to 8 CPU cores and 16 CPU threads. Â
Â
The first of this new line of products is ASUS’ new ROG Strix GL702ZC, which will come with a 4GB RX 580 GPU and either a Ryzen 7 1700 or a Ryzen 5 1600, offering 8 and 6 CPU cores respectively. These are hugely impressive numbers for mobile products, but note that there are no overclocking options on both of these products.Â
Â
ASUS also plans on releasing a Ryzen 3 variant of this notebook with a Ryzen 3 1200 CPU in the future, though these CPUs have not been released by AMD at this time.Â
Â
Right now two variants of this notebook are available to preorder on Overclockers UK, a £1589.99 Ryzen 7 1700 variant and a £1,399.99 Ryzen 5 1600 variant. Both of these models feature a FreeSync display, a 4GB RX 580 GPU, a 256GB NVMe SSD and a 1TB 5400RPM mechanical hard drive. The Ryzen 7 variant will have 16GB of 2400MHz memory while the Ryzen 5 variant has 8GB of 2400MHz memory. Both models also feature 17.3-inch 1080p displays, which are listed as 60Hz by Overclockers UK, though ASUS states that these notebooks will only have 75Hz and 120Hz options.  Â
Â
Â
These new 6-8 core Ryzen-powered notebooks are now available to pre-order from Overclockers UK.Â
