Gigabyte Aorus Rep hints at “next gen” mobile GPUs later this year

Nvidia’s Pascal series of graphics cards are almost two years old, leaving many PC gamers in a strange position where they want to upgrade their systems but they also expect the release of next-generation hardware to be just around the corner.

Nobody wants to purchase a new system to have Nvidia release a new series of graphics cards just a few months later, leading a perspective Gigabyte Aero 15X notebook purchaser to ask his local Gigabyte representative whether or not a new hardware refresh is coming.

In response to this question, Atom80, Gigabyte/Aorus’ UK representative stated that they were expecting notebook refreshes “towards the end of the year” after the release of the “next gen of GPUs”.

If Nvidia’s next-generation of GPUs follows a Pascal-like release schedule, Nvidia will release desktop variants of their next-generation GPUs first and launch mobile versions of the same products two or three months later. This release schedule would suggest a summer release for Nvidia’s next generation of desktop GPUs.
