Razer plans to release a 2nd Generation Razer Phone

In the company’s latest earnings reports, Razer has confirmed that a second generation Razer Phone is in development, following the success of their 1st generation model, which released in late 2017.

Razer’s “others” business group, saw a revenue increase of 432.3% year-over-year, primarily due to the sales of the Razer Phone. The group generated a total of $16.5 million in revenue, making the company’s entry into the mobile device market a huge success, achieving high sales numbers and positive reviews internationally.

At this time, it is unknown what Razer plans to do with their second-generation smartphone, though it is likely that the company plans to upgrade the handset’s SOC to Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon model, the 845, and perhaps change their handset design to offer thinner bezels or a larger battery. Alternatively, Razer could go the ASUS route and create their 2nd generation handset with accessories in mind, much like the ROG Smartphone, which has a controller attachment, a cooling attachment and several other useful accessories.

Right now, Razer’s plans for their second-generation smartphone are unknown, with the 1st generation model still holding specifications that can still rival most flagship smartphones.  Could Razer perhaps release a second generation smartphone with a lower price tag than its £699 predecessor?
