Logitech Mic's Up - Acquires Blue Microphones

Blue is one of the world's most well-regarded creators of microphones and other audio equipment, especially amongst podcasters musicians and others who require high-fidelity audio solutions on both the consumer and enterprise markets.

The Blue Yeti and Snowball series of microphones have been the staple of streamers and audio savvy gamers for quite some time, making the company a prime target for acquisition, especially as players cry out of better audio solutions for an increasingly connected market, whether it be for multiplayer gaming, or online video or game streaming.

Logitech has announced that they have acquired Blue Microphones for $117 million, combining the makers of the world's most popular streaming microphones and cameras to create a potential streaming and gaming behemoth. Thanks to this acquisition, Blue plans to come back "better, stronger and faster".

Below are comments from Logitech's CEO Bracken Darrell and Blue's CEO John Maier;

 Bracken Darrel - Logitech’s acquisition of Blue Microphones will accelerate our entry into a growing market, and offers another way for us to help bring people’s passions (from music to blogging) to life. Joining with Blue is an adjacent opportunity for us – a new way to grow – with additional synergies related to our existing gaming, PC webcam and audio categories.  It’s exciting!

 John Maier - Blue and Logitech have a lot in common. Both companies work at being small, fast and hungry, crafting great products with cutting-edge design and technology. We’re an established leader in the broadcasting space with a strong product portfolio. Logitech has design at its heart, tech know-how and global reach. Together we can do amazing things.

Blue has stated that both companies have some "great new products in development", saying that there is "a lot to look forward to". Logitech will undoubtedly use Blue's influence to dominate the webcam and streaming scenes further, while BLue will no doubt make additional headway into the gaming market.

Good news. Hopefully we can see a new and better gaming headet in the near future, that isn't as bad as the G633, because my 3rd G35 is slowly starting to fall apart.Quote

Could be good as long as they keep Blue mics a separate product and don't introduce any "gaming" features.Quote
