Cooler Master will support AMD's AM4 socket

AMD's Ryzen CPUs are coming, and with them will come the company's new AM4 socket, featuring a new cooler mounting system which breaks backwards compatibility with some CPU cooler designs.

Cooler Master has now announced their plans to support AMD's new AM4 socket, with plans to offer upgrade kits for a large range of their existing CPU coolers free of charge, with some of their new cooler designs already coming with support for AM4.

AMD's AM4 mounting design contains a lot of similarities to their older AM3 sockets, using the same clip-mount design but using different mounting hole locations. This means that any clip-based AMD-compatible coolers will continue to work with AM4, though those that use screw based mounts will no longer function.

Upgrade Without Downtime
The most recent all-in-one (AIO) liquid cooling models announced at CES 2017 – the MasterLiquid 120/240 and the MasterLiquid Lite 120 – are already equipped with native AM4 compatibility. For the majority of our other cooling products, the only thing you’ll need is our free AM4 upgrade kit. Check the list below for compatible models:

Cooler Master is already selling one of their new AM4 mounting kit upgrade kits on their EU Storefront, which is available free of charge with buyers only paying postage costs.
