EK develops extra-thick Meltemi fans to enable better cooling performance

EK has officially released its new EK-Meltemi series of fans, which are designed to offer high levels of static pressure with a 7-blade fan design. What differentiates the Meltemi from other 120mm fans is its thickness, with EK opting for a 38mm thickness instead of the commonly used 25mm thickness.

Thanks to this design change, EH is able to offer higher levels of static pressure than normal fans, which is great news for users of thick water cooling radiators. EK’s use of a sealed-edge fan casing also ensures that there is no space for air to escape, ensuring that all airflow is directed into the user’s heatsink or water cooling radiator.

These fans will ship with a PWM header a control range of 25% to 100% and an RPM range of 500 RPM to 1800 RPM (+/- 10%). Under maxed out loads, this fan operates with 1.6W of power and is rated to last an average of 50,000 hours at 40 degrees Celcius.

Below are the specifications of EK’s Meltemi series of fans.

Mechanical and electrical specifications:

– Maximum speed: 1800 RPM (+/- 10%)
– Rated Voltage: 12V DC
– Power Draw: 1.6W
