Meet the Hex Gear R40 Case

It is always great to see a new manufacturer make their way onto the market. Meet HEX Gear and their R40 Matx Chassis. I think Tom has already fell in love with this case.

HEX GEAR was founded earlier this year by Hans Peder Sahl and Nate George, two very active PC modders who wanted to produce cases with a simple, clean designs but are also small in size and built to last. After a year of development their Matx R40 case is the end result.

This is what HEX GEAR has to say about their first case.

The R40 is our take on the ultimate Micro ATX case. The HEX GEAR R40 is built to perform, and provides room for enough hardware to satisfy the need of most enthusiasts. The case, unlike many others, is built to be heavy and sturdy while still maintaining an elegant design. The solid aluminum profiles that are the main skeleton of this case divides it into four compartment that helps you make a clean and efficient build.

At HEX GEAR they have a simple ideology, create solid cases with a clean aesthetic, without a tonne of fancy features and and allowing easily customisation of the chassis. The case is constructed using heavy grade nuts and bolts, meaning that you don't need to spend a lot of time drilling out rivets or breaking off plastic fasteners when you want to paint or otherwise modify the chassis.

All the tools you will need to construct and de-construct the case will be supplied in the box, making this case a modders wet dream.

For those who are less willing to heavily mod their cases will still be able to easily match their case with their chosen hardware by buying one of HEX GEAR's case Accent Packs. This requires the user to change only 2 Plates, but will go a long way to make the case your own.

Can I have a P please Bob?

Nice looking case, I like things hex (my first scratch build was based on hexagons) but only 5 PCI slots? I'd like to see the case with some hardware installed.Quote

5 PCI slots is rare for mATX cases, and a great idea - some mATX motherboards have the second PCIE slot right at the bottom of the board to allow one slots worth of space between two graphics cards, this case will let you use those boards. Most mATX cases only have four PCI slots, which means the first card can get a little toasty in SLI / Crossfire configs.Quote

I imagine this will be the first of many to come, assuming they're successful. There are 2 GENIUS level modders behind this, and it's only their first kick at the can. I wish them all the success in the world, just so they can make more with different designs! From what people are saying, this is Case Labs level quality with an actual aesthetic behind it.Quote
