AMD has two new Ryzen 9000 X3D CPUs in the works

AMD has a new round of X3D CPUs in the works, and one of them has 192MB of L3 cache

According to the hardware leaker chi11eddog, AMD is getting ready to release two new Granite Ridge X3D series CPUs. These new chips could be refreshed Ryzen 9000 X3D series CPUs, enhancing the company’s gaming CPU lineup.

The first of these new CPUs seems similar to AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D. It features eight cores, 96MB of L3 cache, and a TDP of 120W. This CPU could be a refreshed version of this CPU with higher clock speeds (a Ryzen 7 9850X3D perhaps?) or a lower-speed model that will feature lower pricing (a Ryzen 7 9700X3D).

AMD’s other rumoured X3D CPU is the most interesting. It reportedly features 16 cores, a 200W TDP, and 192MB of L3 Cache. Unlike AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D, this CPU has an AMD V-Cache chiplet on both of the CPU’s 8-core CCDs. This gives both chiplets 96MB of L3 cache and provides the CPU with 192MB of L3 cache in total. If released, this would be the first dual-CCD AMD Ryzen X3D CPU to feature 3D V-Cache on both chiplets. This makes both CPU chiplets ideal for gaming workloads.

It’s currently unknown if/when AMD plans to release these new X3D gaming CPUs. This could be AMD’s counter to Intel’s rumoured Arrow Lake Refresh. Regardless, the release of new X3D CPUs will help secure AMD’s leadership within the gaming CPU market.
