AMD officially confirms new Ryzen Threadripper CPUs and other processors

AMD has confirmed a wide range of new Threadripper and AM5 processors

AMD has revealed a ton of new CPU codenames on its website, including new Ryzen Threadripper series CPUs. This was first uncovered by InstLaxX64 on Bluesky and covered in more detail by Videocardz. This official, but accidental, information dump unveiled new “Strix Gorgon” and “Gorgon Point” CPUs, and new Ryzen Threadripper “Shimada Peak” CPUs.

“Shimada Peak” is AMD’s rumoured codename for their upcoming Zen 5-powered Ryzen Threadripper CPUs. These CPUs will continue to support AMD’s TR5 socket and will likely launch as the Ryzen Threadripper 9000 series.

“Gorgon Point” is likely a new APU from AMD, featuring an integrated CPU, GPU, and NPU component. This processor is coming to AMD’s mobile and desktop platforms. This includes AM5 and FP8. This processor may be part of AMD’s Ryzen 400 AI series, though this has not been confirmed. Gorgon Point is reportedly a refreshed version of Strix Point. Currently, its improvements are unknown.

We expect to see a lot of new products from AMD at Computex 2025. This could include new AMD Ryzen Threadripper CPUs and the reveal of Gorgon Point CPUs or systems. However, it remains unconfirmed if AMD’s new Threadripper CPUs will continue to be available in PRO and non-PRO forms.
