AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D outsells all other Ryzen 9000 CPUs combined at Mindfactory
Mindfactory reveals the overwhelming popularity of AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU
Sales data for AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D is now available at Mindfactory, revealing the overwhelming popularity of the company’s newest gaming-focused CPU. So far, the retailer claims to have sold over 9,190 processors, more than all other Ryzen 9000 series CPUs combined.
AMD’s second most popular Ryzen 9000 series CPU is the Ryzen 7 9700X, which has sold 2,610 units. That’s less than a third of AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D’s sales numbers. It’s clear that the X3D’s 3D V-Cache has resulted in a huge boost in CPU sales. However, it should be noted that there are other factors that have impacted non-X3D Ryzen 9000 CPU sales.

The Ryzen 9000 series isn’t popular – unless it has V-Cache
AMD’s Ryzen 9000 series was a disappointment at launch. While its Zen 5 architecture has some major benefits for users, those benefits aren’t present in games. Some workloads benefit greatly from AMD’s Zen 5 architectural enhancements, but others see little to no change. As such, many buyers are sticking to AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series, as they are now available at reduced prices.
AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D delivers a larger generational leap in performance than other Ryzen 9000 series CPUs. AMD’s improved X3D technology has allowed AMD to push their newest X3D CPUs to higher clock speeds than before. This makes AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D a lot more appealing than its last-generation counterpart. Add-on Intel’s lacklustre Arrow Lake CPU launch, and it is easy to see why gamers have flocked to the AMD’s newest X3D CPU.
