AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU benchmarks leak

Leaked benchmarks confirm higher clock speeds for AMD’s new gaming flagship

Benchmarks for AMD’s recently confirmed Ryzen 7 9850X3D CPU have leaked, unveiling higher clock speeds for the company’s new mainstream gaming flagship.

Two new benchmark results have been uncovered by @Olrak29_ on the Geekbench database. These results highlight higher maximum clock speeds for AMD’s new CPU. One result, on a Colorful motherboard, lists a 5.6GHz boost clock speed, while another listing on a Maxsun motherboard reports a 5.38 GHz clock speed.

Note that both of these new benchmark results are slightly lower than typical results for AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU. This could be down to these results using slower DDR5-4800 memory, or their use of early BIOS versions. Most PC builders would pair a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU with faster DDR5-6000 memory.

Assuming these results are legitimate (fake benchmark leaks are not unheard of), it looks like AMD partners are now testing AMD’s new X3D CPUs ahead of their launch in 2026. These CPUs will likely be revealed at CES 2026 in January. Note that no benchmark results have leaked for AMD’s rumoured Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 CPU.

With higher boost clock speeds, AMD’s new X3D CPUs aim to deliver boosted gaming performance for users. Note that the Ryzen 7 9850X3D reportedly has a boost clock that is 400 MHz higher than AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D. That’s an increase in boost clock speed of less than 8%. As such, PC gamers should not expect transformative performance gains from this new CPU release.
