AMD VS Intel – Puget Systems unveils the most reliable CPU of 2025

Puget Systems names the most reliable consumer CPU of 2025

Puget Systems has shared its internal data on CPU reliability, confirming who makes the most reliable consumer-grade processors. AMD Ryzen 9000 VS Intel Core Ultra 200. Overall, failure rates for both CPU families are nearly identical: 2.52% for AMD’s Ryzen CPUs and 2.49% for Intel’s Core Ultra CPUs. Those are solid results for both team AMD and team Intel.

Puget also noted that its most reliable CPU overall was Intel’s Core Ultra 7 265K, which has a failure rate of 0.77%. Furthermore, AMD’s Ryzen Ryzen 9000 X3D family had an overall failure rate of 1.51%, with most failed CPUs being caught during Puget Systems’ internal testing procedures. This meant that very few AMD X3D CPUs failed after they were delivered to customers as part of completed systems.

Given how often hardware failures are discussed on Reddit and other social media platforms, many will be surprised by Puget’s X3D CPU results. X3D CPU failure reports are often discussed on social media, but Puget’s data refutes this claim. Perhaps the customers who purchase AMD’s flagship gaming CPUs are customers who are more likely to utilise these platforms? That would certainly impact the online discourse.

Most Reliable Consumer Processors of 2026

On the consumer desktop side of things, results are less clear-cut. Looking at the totals for AMD’s Ryzen™ 9000 and Intel’s Core™ Ultra 200 Series, the failure rates are almost identical: 2.52% for Ryzen and 2.49% for Core Ultra. That is too close to say there is a statistically significant difference, so we can’t crown either product line 5as a whole.

However, there are two standouts within these families that did record fewer failures across a wide enough sample size! The most reliable individual processor was Intel’s Core Ultra 7 265K, with only a 0.77% failure rate. As a group, AMD’s Ryzen X3D processors also had a better track record than the Ryzen 9000 family as a whole, with 1.51% of chips failing in 2025 – and the vast majority of those being caught here before systems shipped out to customers.

Puget Systems

Overall, Puget Systems’ data confirms that today’s consumer CPU platforms are very reliable. That’s good news for consumers. After all, having more reliable products means that fewer customers need to deal with customer support. That’s a good thing for everyone.
