AMD X3D CPU sales alone surpass all Intel CPU sales on Amazon
AMD’s CPUs are dominating Intel on Amazon
Based on new sales data from Amazon US, via TechEpiphany, AMD has dominated Intel in CPU sales. AMD accounts for almost 85% of CPU sales with over 52,000 units sold. Intel’s sales are much less impressive, clocking in at 10,200.
AMD’s most popular CPUs, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D and Ryzen 7 9800X3D, sold around 16,000 units. Yes, these two X3D CPUs alone sold more units than Intel’s entire CPU lineup. When it comes to the DIY PC market, AMD are killing it.
While Intel’s market share is higher for pre-built desktop systems and laptops, AMD is dominating in the DIY PC space. This is due to Intel’s lacklustre Arrow Lake CPU lineup, which failed to deliver major performance gains over their last-generation counterparts. In fact, Intel’s Core Ultra 200 series (Arrow Lake) CPUs ran worse than their Raptor Lake (Intel 14th Gen) counterparts in many games. With gaming being one of the most critical workloads for DIY PC builders, it is easy to see why Intel’s CPU sales have tanked.

Can Intel turn things around?
Unfortunately (for Intel), Team Blue is unlikely to reverse today’s trends anytime soon. While Intel reportedly has an “Arrow Lake Refresh” in the works, these new processors are unlikely to significantly alter the company’s market position. Intel’s next opportunity to claw back desktop market share from AMD is with Nova Lake. Nova Lake is due to launch in mid-late 2026 as Intel’s Core Ultra 400 series. If Intel can deliver stronger gaming performance and competitive pricing, its market share is likely to increase.
