AMD claims leadership single-threaded performance in PassMark with their Ryzen 9 5950X
AMD's Zen 3 architecture and Ryzen 5000 series processors focus on single-threaded performance, offering users a 19% boost in IPC over today's Ryzen 3000 series CPUs.
With Zen 3, AMD has tackled many of the performance bottlenecks within the older Zen models through fundamental redesigns of several aspects of their core architecture, making the Ryzen 5000 series a gamechanger for AMD within the desktop market.
PassMark's CPU database has been updated with results from AMD's 16-core Ryzen 9 5950X processor, as first reported by Videocardz. Thanks to the performance of their Ryzen 9 5950X, AMD has claimed performance leadership in PassMark's single-threaded tests, achieving a score of 3,693. For comparison, Intel's i9-10900K scores 3,177.
Previously, before Zen 3, AMD's strongest single-threaded processor in PassMark was their Ryzen 7 3800XT, which scored 2,889. AMD's Ryzen 9 5950X offers a single-threaded performance boost of 27.8%, showcasing how much AMD's Zen architecture has improved with Zen 3 and the Ryzen 5000 series.
When compared to Intel's i9-10900K, AMD's Ryzen 9 5950X offers a single-threaded performance lead of 16.2% in PassMark, while also offering users six more cores.
