AMD is launching new Godavari APUs tomorrow

AMD is launching new APU's tomorrow. The A10-7870K and A8-7670K will launch on the FM2+ platform and will feature Godavari chips. The CPUs will replace their current flagship counterparts, the A10-7850K and A8-7650K, which feature the older Kaveri chips.
The new APUs will sport higher clock speeds for both the CPU and GPU chips than the older APUs. Below are the specifications of the 7870K.

AMD states that the chips get a 1.8x performance boost with 1866 MHz memory up to a whopping 2x performance boost with 2500 MHz RAM when compared to regular 1600 MHz memory. Gaming-wise, the APUs should handle themselves. The A10-7870K scores a decent 40FPS in Dirt Rally at 1080p with medium settings. Worth mentioning is that Dirt Rally will come bundled with the APUs. When adding another R7 250 GPU for crossfire the game will run at high settings at 45FPS in Full HD. Synthetic benchmarks show a 5-10% performance increase in OpenCL, PCMark 8 and 3DMark. The A10-7870K should launch at under $150.

More specific details on the APUs: the 7870K is the flagship chip. It's a quad-core chip with a clock speed of 3.9 GHz, which boosts up to 4.1 GHz. Of course, the chip is overclockable too. The APU sports a Radeon R7 GPU based on the Sea Islands architecture. The GPU has 512 streaming cores and runs at a clock speed of 867 MHz. It has 4 MB of L2 cache, have a 96W TDO and will support DDR3 memory at speeds up to 2133 MHz.

The A8-7670K is a quad-core chip too. It has a base clock of 3.6 GHz and a boost clock of 4.0 GHz. The APU is unlocked, so it can be overclocked. The rest of the specifications are the same as the A10-7870K.

These APUs will be the last chips to release on the FM2+ platform, as AMD will make the transition to the multi-purpose AM4 socket.

Since you're part of the news team now... think Tom should make your OC3D rating(can't think of what it's called ) more professional

Is there any news on what kind of architecture this is? Or is it just a refined Kavari?Quote

I've grown used to my title, so I don't mind too much, but I can see where you're coming from I'll talk to him about it
As for Godavari, it's really just a better, more efficient version of Kaveri, with a better GPU.
