AMD's Zen CPUs are rumoured to release on January 17th

As 2016 draws to a close more and more details for AMD's Zen-based CPUs are coming to light. with recent rumoured suggesting that Zen will release on January 17th, with an 8-core 16-thread model which will be available for around $300.

According to MAXSUN, AMD's Zen CPU will first launch on January 17th with a secondary launch for additional (likely lower end) Zen CPUs in early March. This means that AMD is likely to officially reveal their Zen CPUs at CES 2017, which will take place between January 6th and January 8th.

Recent rumours have been suggesting that AMD is planning to use an Intel-like naming scheme for their Zen/Summit Ridge CPUs, with SR7, SR5 and SR3 series chips. This is an obvious plan on Intel's existing i3, i5 and i7 branding, with AMD's SR naming scheme being named after AMD's Summit Ridge brand name.

Reports from MAXSUN also state that final clock speeds for AMD's Zen CPUs will be higher than the 3GHz engineering sample that AMD has already showcased, with current samples clocking at around 3.15-3.3GHz and boosting to 3.5GHz. It has also been reported that Zen CPUs can easily overclock to 4.2GHz using conventional means, with overclocks as high as 5.0GHz being possible under LN2.

At this time these rumours should all be taken with a grain of salt, though it looks like AMD's upcoming Zen based CPUs will offer PC builders and gamers with a lot of value for money, even if they do not match Intel in term of clock-clock performance.

OK so I ran the images located on the post from Baidu through an OCR to get the characters then ran those through Google Translate then did some Photoshop to include the translation in the image. You can see the translation via the Imgur album I have linked below. Hopefully the translation is good enough to understand what is being said.

P.S. The image at the top should be at the bottom. Imgur decided to rearrange the order a little after I had posted it.Quote

Really hope this 8 core can beat a 6700/7700k or at least match it at that costQuote

Oh god I hope this thing performs well! If not just to smack some sense into Intel and their current pricing scheme.Quote

'IF' that's the price then we have only to hope the perf is up to scratch. Along with this, if the mainboards for SR can cut into the pricing of Skylake boards we can have the core for a great system foundation. I fore one have my digits crossed. Quote
