AMD’s Bristol Ridge APUs are set to hit retail by August 18th

AMD’s Bristol-Ridge series of APUs will be having a retail release, filling in a market segment below Ryzen 3 and offering price points that are all below £100. Caseking currently says that these CPUs/APUs will be available on August 18th.Â

These APUs will be the first to be released on the AM4 platform, outside of the OEM space. These CPUs will be based on AMD’s older Excavator CPU architecture and GCN GPU architecture, which means that the performance of these parts will not be revolutionary. Â

Even so, these CPUs will offer their users attractive pricepoints, with the most expensive model costing less than £95. This will make these CPUs decent solutions for affordable low-performance systems that offer graphical horsepower that is much greater than Intel’s current low-cost offerings.Â

Being based on Excavator, these CPUs are not expected to offer revolutionary performance levels, though they will certainly offer a lot of value for money when building basic office or web browsing machines. It will be interesting to see how these APUs will perform in modern games, though it certainly will not be able to compete with any modern CPU + Dedicated GPU setup.Â
