ASUS launches its ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme motherboard
ROG has officially revealed its new AM5 flagship motherboard
ASUS has officially unveiled its ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme motherboard (via WCCFTECH), a new flagship-level AMD AM5 motherboard that is as feature-rich as it is expensive.
This new EATX motherboard features a 20+2+2 VRM design with 110A phases and two 8-pin EPS connectors for CPU power. This makes it more than ready for Ryzen 9000 series overclocking, even with AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D.
Integrated onto this motherboard is a large 5-inch LCD screen that can be used for data delivery and customisation. The board features two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots and five M.2 SSD slots. This motherboard’s first PCIe slot features a 3D vapour chamber heatsink, making it ideal for the fastest and hottest PCIe 5.0 SSDs.
Memory-wise, this motherboard supports high-speed DDR5-8200+ memory and memory capacities of up to 256GB (4x64GB). Next to these DRAM slots is a Q-DIMM.2 slot that supports two M.2 SSDs. This board also supports internal IO options that include 10 Gbps and 20 Gbps USB ports.
The rear IO of this motherboard appears to support both 10 Gb and 5 Gb Ethernet. It also features antennas for WIFI 7, and support for 40 Gbps USB4. Additionally, there is also an HDMI port and various other USB and audio connections.
ASUS’ ROG Crosshair X870E Extreme is due to become available later this month in some regions. In China, the motherboard has been given an MSRP of 9,999 RMB, which converts to around $1,400 US and £1,050 GBP.
