ASUS ROG X870E APEX motherboard spotted – A first for Ryzen

ASUS are releasing their first ever ROG APEX motherboard for AMD Ryzen CPUs

ASUS’ first-ever AMD-based ROG APEX has been spotted by leakers, with @9550pro being the first to showcase the motherboard on Twitter/X. This is ASUS’ first high-end overclocking motherboard for AMD’s Ryzen platform, the ASUS ROG X870E APEX.

This new motherboard is ASUS’ ROG X870E APEX, and below, we can see that this motherboard has two DDR5 DIMM slots, a dedicated DRAM cooling fan, and a robust set of CPU power stages and VRMs.

Why only two DRAM slots? The simple answer is signal integrity. Overclockers can achieve higher DRAM speeds and lower latencies when only two DRAM slots are present. Simply put, adding two more slots adds more circuitry to motherboards and that decreases signal integrity due to interference. Since overclockers only tend to use one or two DRAM modules, having only two DRAM slots on dedicated overclocking motherboards makes a lot of sense.

With this motherboard, ASUS hopes to win for itself world records for CPU and memory overclocking. We expect ASUS to officially reveal this new motherboard soon, and see what overclockers can achieve with it and AMD’s latest Ryzen processors.
