ASUS releases beta AMD X670 and B650 BIOS updates to enable 24/48GB DRAM support

ASUS releases beta AMD X670 and B650 BIOS updates to enable 24/48GB DRAM support

Many of ASUS’ AM5 motherboards now support 24/48GB DDR5 modules with these BETA BIOS updates

Over on ASUS’ Republic of Gamers forums, the company has released new test BIOS’ for many of their AMD AM5 motherboards that can enable support for non-binary 24GB and 48GB DDR5 memory modules.

While these BIOS updates are not intended for public use, they should allow owners of DDR5 24GB and 48GB DRAM modules to get their X670 and B650 AMD systems up and running, and prove that new, non-beta, AM5 BIOS updates are on the horizon that will deliver official support for these memory DIMM sizes.

Earlier this week, ASUS showcased an ROG Strix X670E Gaming motherboard running with 192GB (4x48GB) of DDR5 memory. This system was using the “latest AGESA” update from AMD, and this AGESA is likely being used with these new AM5 test BIOS’ from ASUS.

For now, we do not recommend that users of supported motherboards utilise these new test BIOS’ from ASUS. That said, if you have chosen to upgrade to AM5 and have purchased 24GB or 48GB DDR5 modules, these test updates appear to be the only way to get your system up and running, at least until official non-beta versions of these BIOS updates are launched.
