Cryptocurrency mining has become increasingly popular over the past few months, especially for currencies like Ethereum. Today we now see dedicated cryptocurrency hardware hitting store shelves, from GPUs with no display outputs and motherboards with a huge number of PCIe connections.

Biostar has now upped their mining game with their latest TB250-BTC Pro motherboard, which comes with a unique PCIe lane design that allows users to utilise up to 12 GPU without any short circuiting and without bandwidth limitations when mining.

When it comes to cryptocurrency mining, the aim of the game is to profit enough to pay for your hardware as soon as possible, which means that miners want to minimise the amount that they spend on their CPU and motherboards. Typically miners can only place around 6 GPUs on a motherboard, while the TB250-BTC Pro can support 12, allowing pro miners to quickly make their money back.

This motherboard uses Intel’s B250 chipset, with support for Intel’s latest 7th generation of core processors and up to two DIMMs of DDR4 RAM.

Using this motherboard, Biostar estimates that users will save around $200 when compared to using two more traditional motherboards with six GPUs each, as it will require the purchase of an additional CPU, RAM, motherboard and SSD.

Biostar uses a unique PCIe layout to enable the use of 12 PCIe GPUs while preventing short circuiting, making this motherboard safer to use than some alternatives. While this layout is almost useless outside of mining, it is certainly a clever way to increase mining capability while also increasing user safety.

This new motherboard now costs $129.99 USD, with expected availability in retail stores soon.
